Refer to your tent’s dimensions for the best possible mattress size that can fit.

SoundAsleep Dream Series Air Mattress
The first air mattress that we will look at comes from SoundAsleep. This is a grey inflatable mattress with a navy blue topper. This mattress has what is known as “comfort coil technology”. With 40 different air coils throughout the length of the mattress, you are sure to get a sleep almost as good as sleeping in a real bed.
This mattress works to keep from sliding as you move around at night. With it’s grip bottom, it creates friction with the ground so that the mattress does not surprisingly move as you sleep. No matter where you place it, it is sure to stay put.
This is a tough mattress that is hard to puncture, which is perfect for outdoor camping trips. Who knows what could try poking a hole through your bed; a raccoon? A stick? A pine needle? As long as you are sleeping, you would like a bed that does not have a chance to deflate on you, and this is a great mattress for doing just that.
Whether you are inflating or deflating, it is very easy to do with its internal pump. It collects and releases air instantly with no pump required. It can fill up completely in up to four minutes, which is ridiculously fast. If you do, it will deflate with leaks.
The problem with this mattress is that it is not great for outdoor use, and they warn you in the instructions. The only time that it is safe to use when camping is if you sleep on it from inside a tent and on top of a very smooth surface.
King Koil Air Mattress
The King Koil luxury mattress has some unique features. It is a black air mattress with a white top, and its logo is embedded on the side.
The first thing we have noticed about his mattress is that it has a raised lip where the person’s head is at when they lie down. This is the “built-in pillow” and it gives your head some much-needed support without needing a pillow of your very own.
This mattress comes with a 120-volt internal pump. This mattress plugs into a wall in order to inflate its own air. It requires no separate air pump and can fully inflate within three minutes. This is an even faster time than the previous mattress.
There are air coils in this mattress that give the user comfort and support as they sleep.
This mattress is made of durable materials, so that you do not accidentally puncture the mattress with a sharp object. It is a mattress that, with great care, will keep you supported for a handful of years.
This is a very nice mattress, however, King Koil too stresses that this is not a product that is suitable for outdoor use. They rather encourage you to use it when sleeping over a friends house, among other occasions.
Insta Air Mattress
Insta-Bed’s inflatable mattresses are said to be as good as SoundAsleep’s, but how do these two mattresses differ?
Firstly, this bed comes with a unique “never flat” pump. This pump is secondary to the main pump that you primarily inflate the mattress with. What this guarantees is that you will never lose air and end up with a deflated bed in the morning. When air is lost, the pump works to collect new air.
Secondly, this inflatable mattress comes with a dial, so you can set to firmness of the mattress with a flick of the wrist. You can make it feel plush-like, firm or something in the middle. If you are not a fan of hard or cushy beds, this is a great inflatable mattress to buy.
Like the SoundAsleep mattress, it comes with 35 internal air coils that are designed to give you a good night’s sleep. Also like the SoundAsleep mattress, you can fully inflate it within four minutes without any air pump or attachment.
You can buy this mattress in one of three colors: white, grey, and tan. All of which are neutral colors that will look good in any environment.
This mattress, however, is much more expensive than the others, but that is to be expected with such unique and wonderful features. If you find a good deal for this mattress, we consider you check it out.
Etekcity Camping Air Mattress
Do you love ice cream sandwiches? If so, you will love this air mattress from Etekcity. With a brown top and a white rim, it looks just like your classic summertime desert.
This mattress is only nine inches tall, which means that it you have room to sleep on it from inside of a tent. This is also one of the lightest air mattresses, being less than 15 pounds heavy.
You can pump this mattress to full capacity in a span of three minutes. This air mattress comes with various different nozzles so that you can use any type of pump with it. If you prefer to pump it with an wall outlet, a car cigarette port, a traditional air pump or the rechargeable pump that it comes with, it comes with every type of compatible nozzle.
This rechargeable pump runs on a battery, and it cannot be used when it is charging, unfortunately.
This air mattress is made of PVC. While it is durable and comfortable, it is not all that breathable. It is rather for use during cold, chilly nights outside.
The Etekcity mattress has what is called an “inner build”. This provides additional comfort so that you are not only supported by just air at night. This provides a firm, flexible bedding option that will keep you back and legs well supported.
This air mattress is ideal for both outdoor and indoor use, so you can use it for any outdoor occasion, including camping, travelling and more.
The Etekcity mattress also has a non-slip bottom, making it very difficult for it to move as you toss and turn in your sleep.
Intex Air Mattress
This air mattress from Intex is one of the more economical options. It has an all black body with its logo subtly placed on the side.
This is one of the lightest air mattresses in this review, weighing less than 17 pounds. It is also one of the thickest air mattresses at a whopping 22 inches. It’s great for that extra support, however, it may be too thick for you to sleep inside of a tent.
Is has dura-beam technology so that you lay with support and comfort, opposed to other air mattresses that slightly sink and slowly lose air. Because of how it is structured, you will not end up sunk to the floor by morning.
This bed inflates in more than four minutes, while it is still a very fast time to fill, there are other air mattresses that fill up in a shorter amount of time.
This mattress also comes with a waterproof flocked top, so you do not need to worry about moisture or humidity ruining it when you are outdoors.
Coleman Air Mattress
This last air mattress is a somewhat pricey model from Coleman. Because Coleman is a brand known for high quality and popular camping products, we have our hopes up that this air mattress will deliver.
Oddly, this mattress comes in two different visual styles. One with vertical stripes, and one in a grid pattern. Both of them are grey in color.
This mattress comes with a double lock valve inflation system, so that much less air escapes over time as you sleep. This mattress has a built in electric pump, although it is louder than your average pump. It will fill up completely in a matter of minutes.
It comes with a set of air coils to keep you comfortable and supported throughout the night. This mattress also comes with a pillow stop, so that your pillow does not slide off if it is too close to the edge.
With that said, while it does try its best to preserve as much air inside as possible, you will need to re-pump this air in ev
While there are a bunch of nice air mattresses in this review, the focus is the best air mattress for camping. From what we have gathered, all of them are the best sellers and mostly reviewed by the customers.
Furthermore, the majority of these air mattresses are nearly three feet high off the ground. By choosing one of these air mattresses, you would have little clearance while sleeping in your tent, if any. With this considered, three mattresses give you enough clearance: Coleman’s, Restorology’s and Etekcity’s. In case of camping in an open area or in a wide enough tent, height won’t matter of course and you can go for the rests.
We have also considered that all of these mattresses will eventually garner wear and tear, and with that said, it definitely helps matters that there is a patch repair kit included so that you can keep using the product after experiencing air leaks and stretches. This is a very thoughtful addition that would come in handy as you encounter very untimely problems during use.
As camping is a fun thing to do with your family and friends, don’t come back home with a sore back for not having a air mattress or don’t let it be ruined by choosing a wrong mattress! Select a good air mattress, keep your body in a good condition and enjoy your trip!
